Who we are
EduByte is an independent technology learning platform. For privacy questions, contact privacy@edubyte.tech.
Data we collect
We collect the minimum needed to run learning and certification:
- Account data: display name, email address, preferred locale and accessibility preferences.
- Learning data: lesson completion, bookmarks, exercise attempts and assessment results.
- Certification evidence: submitted answers, scoring version, issuance record and status changes.
- Security logs: IP address, user agent, timestamps and rate-limit events, retained briefly for abuse prevention.
- Public credential data: program, status, dates, assurance level and a consented display name.
- Product analytics: event name, page path and lesson identifier. Raw IP addresses and user identifiers are not stored in analytics.
Why we use it
We use account and learning data to authenticate you, resume your progress, issue certificates you have earned and respond to support requests. Security logs are used to detect abuse and investigate incidents. First-party product analytics help us understand which lessons and pages are useful; they are not used for advertising profiles. We do not sell learner data.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your date of birth or government identity documents for free courses. Higher-assurance credentials require separate identity checks, a lawful basis and a separate notice; those checks are not part of the current course registration flow. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor and are not stored on EduByte servers.
Payments and subscriptions
EduByte Pro is billed through our payment processor (Stripe or Lemon Squeezy, depending on region). We receive and store a customer identifier, subscription identifier, plan, status, renewal date and cancellation flag so we can provide access and support billing questions. The processor handles card data under its own privacy terms. We use this data to perform the subscription contract, prevent payment fraud and meet accounting obligations. Billing records are kept for as long as required for tax and dispute handling.
Cookies and local storage
The frontend uses local storage for theme preference, language, progress and bookmarks. These values stay in your browser unless you sign in to a synced account. Product analytics are first-party and stored on our own infrastructure. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers.
Retention
Learning progress is kept while your account is active. Exam evidence is kept for a defined period to support appeals and fraud checks. Security logs are kept briefly and then deleted or anonymised. Public credential records and revocation history are retained so verifiers can check authenticity; the public view is limited to display-safe claims.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to certain processing, or to lodge a complaint with a regulator. You can export your learning data from Account settings. Some certification evidence may be exempt from deletion where it is needed to preserve the integrity of an issued credential.
Children and minors
EduByte is intended for learners old enough to consent to online services in their jurisdiction. Where parental consent is legally required, contact privacy@edubyte.tech to arrange a guardian workflow before creating an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children without the required consent.
International transfers
Our production infrastructure may process data in jurisdictions other than yours. Where required, transfers will use appropriate safeguards and a documented data processing agreement with each processor.
